Its history dates <strong>back to the reign of Isabel II in 1867<\/strong>. The queen founded this museum in order to enable people to <strong>learn about Spanish history and its cultural heritage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/01-man-1.jpg\" alt=\"Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional\" width=\"650\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/01-man-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/01-man-1-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At first, this museum was located in the Casino de la Reina which was next to Glorieta de Embajadores. However, in 1892, it was moved to <strong>its current location in Prado de Recoletos<\/strong>. It took 30 years to accomplish the move, as well as three architectural projects. The museum is situated in the <strong>Palacio de Biblioteca y Museos Nacionales<\/strong>, together with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/biblioteca-nacional-treasure\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">the National Library about which we have already written in this blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27564\" src=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/02-man-1.jpg\" alt=\"Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional\" width=\"650\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/02-man-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/02-man-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/02-man-1-175x131.jpg 175w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>A GREAT RESTORATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Due to the appeal of the museum, it underwent <strong>a great restoration<\/strong> which lasted from 2008 to 2014. In 2014, just after the restoration was finished, <strong>the number of visitors was more than 760.000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27566\" src=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/03-man-1.jpg\" alt=\"Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional\" width=\"650\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/03-man-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/03-man-1-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Currently, it is estimated that the <strong>Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional has more than half a million visitors<\/strong> each year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27567\" src=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/04-man-1.jpg\" alt=\"Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional\" width=\"650\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/04-man-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/04-man-1-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The area was <strong>increased to 30.000 square metres<\/strong> and the space dedicated to exhibitions was <strong>more than 9.700 square metres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27568\" src=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/05-man-1.jpg\" alt=\"Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional\" width=\"650\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/05-man-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.estateone.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/05-man-1-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>More than 15.500 exhibits<\/strong> can be contemplated. Nevertheless, if we had to choose two of them, we would make the tough choice of <strong>Dama de Elche and Dama de Baza<\/strong>.
