This may sound like science fiction, however, we can state that this is not far from becoming reality<\/strong>. Recently, some materials that can be blended with concrete, have been discovered. If this is used on the fa\u00e7ade<\/strong>, it will reduce polluting substance and decrease urban pollution in Madrid<\/strong>, especially those days when it does not rain. The Madrid town hall, has shown great interest in this leading-edge technology<\/strong> which is being developed by a cement manufacturing company.<\/p>\n

THE DEPOLLUTING SYSTEM<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ecological certificate<\/strong>, the Leed certification<\/a> and aero-therm<\/a>, have already been mentioned in this blog. We highlight the importance of becoming aware that housing must respect our environment<\/strong>. Today, we will add a new factor which is a depolluting system that reduces traffic pollution up to 60%<\/strong>. This new technology neutralizes traffic exhaust fumes<\/strong> as they become trapped in the concrete which is able to absorb them.<\/p>\n

MORE POLLUTION LEADS TO HIGHER PERFORMANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n

LafargeHolcim, the cement manufacturing company<\/strong> which has created the depolluting system, has signed an agreement with the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid<\/strong> in order to measure the impact<\/strong> of this new technology. It has been tested in the parking lot of the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid<\/strong> and also in a street in Colmenar Viejo<\/strong>. The results were satisfactory. The more pollution there is, the better the system works<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This system may not only be used in buildings, but also in tunnels and parking lots<\/strong>. It has the advantage that sunlight is not needed<\/strong> in order to make it work, as happened in the past. Another advantage is that it has no expiry date<\/strong>.
