OUR 7 PIECES OF ADVICE

We believe that the living-room is the place where we get together to talk or to watch television. We must take advantage of all the possibilities that this space offers. To carry this out, we want to give you 7 pieces of advice.

1. THE LIGHT. We have already mentioned this important issue. Our point of view is that the living-room should have as much natural light as possible, and therefore, the decoration such as sofas, armchairs and the television set depend on this.

2. THE SEATS. The number of seats available is a decisive factor. How many guests do you usually have? This will help you decide the number of seats you will need to have in your living-room. Do not surpass the necessary number because they take up a lot of space and it will make the room look smaller.

3. THE PLACEMENT OF THE FURNITURE. An adequate and good arrangement is fundamental to have a well-organized living-room. You must think carefully which pieces of furniture you need and where to place them. Bookshelves are normally fixed to the wall. The sofa should not be next to the window because it will not let all the light come in. Try to have the area of passage empty because this will prevent an oppressive sensation.

4. THE STORING OF OBJECTS. We usually have a large number of different objects in the living-room. Hence, we must have the ones we use most, handy, such as books, DVD videos and so on. Imagine what it would be like if we had to move a chair or a sofa in order to get what we want!

5. A SIMPLE LOGIC. Related objects should be close to each other so that it is easy to use them. As a result, the DVD remote control should be next to the DVD player. However, if you have objects that are seldom used, then you could keep them in places with more difficult access, such as the top shelves of the bookcase.

6. PRESERVE YOUR IDENTITY. The boxes which are used to store things or the magazine rack, are also part of the decoration and therefore, should have style and good quality in conformity with the rest of your living-room.

7. GET RID OF EXTRA OBJECTS. We tend to keep and accumulate things which are not really needed. Once a year, you should revise everything you have in the living-room and consider if you want it or if you need it. You will have more space and the room will look much nicer!
