The reservoir of Entrepeñas is one of our favourite places to rest and to unwind surrounded by nature. If you go there you will find stunning landscapes like “Boca del Infierno” ( Hell´s Mouth) with its turquoise coloured water which twists and turns between two hills full of vegetation and light brown soil. Furthermore, in the horizon we can see a mountain with beautiful trees.
The reservoir has plenty of small motor boats and sailing boats.
Do you wish to relax without having to go far away from Madrid ?
The Entrepeñas reservoir is the best option!!!
SEA IN THE MIDDLE OF CASTILE
The deep blue colour of the water of the river Tajo and its sailing boats gently moving up and down, makes the surroundings look like a picture postcard!!!! Along the banks of the reservoir of Entrepeñas there are several villages in an area called Alcarria Baja, which is in the province of Guadalajara. This is where the reservoir is located, at around 110 kms. from Madrid.
There are other smaller reservoirs nearby. Thus, this part of Guadalajarra is known as the “Sea of Castille”. It is a remarkable place to do water sports. This is due to the fact that the Entrepeñas reservoir is extremely deep. If you ramble along the nearby paths, you will come upon the “Ruta de las Caras” . Here, there are large sculptures carved in the limestone rocks. They were done by amateurs in 1992.
A BUILDING WHICH STANDS OUT IN A UNIQUE LOCATION
In the residential area of Peñalagos, on the bank of the reservoir, we can see the striking house designed by Rafael de la Joya, a renowned architect.
This house is situated in a plot of land of 6.000 square metres. It has direct access to the reservoir of Entrepeñas.
The magnificent house is large, with very high ceilings and visible beams.
The porches are fantastic as the view of the garden full of olive trees make them a special place to relax in.
It also has a swimming pool. Without doubt, it is very appealing to have a house in such a place!!!
