Going shopping is one of the favourite activities for people visiting Madrid. Do you know which streets are the most sought-after? It is calculated that there are less than 3% premises available in the shopping areas which are most in demand. The price of the rent has lately increased up to 27% in Calle Gran Vía and 21% in Calle Serrano. Let us see which are the main streets where it is profitable to set up a business.

Maybe Calle Serrano can be considered the most highly regarded street in Madrid. Here, we find the most exclusive boutiques. In 2014, this street was remodelled and this fact led to an increase in the demand for premises. Hence, the prices rose up to 21%.

Whenever we think about shopping in Madrid, Calle Preciados comes to mind. It is a busy street bustling with activity and always crowded with people. Each square metre is extremely expensive and the premises between Puerta del Sol and Callao cost around 260€ per square metre.

Calle Goya has the special characteristic that there is a clear difference between the even-number side of the street and the odd-number side. Restaurants and bars are located on the even-number side, whereas the shops are on the odd-number side. It is one of the busiest streets in Madrid and therefore has few premises available.

Calle Gran Vía is very much in demand if you wish to set up a business. Thus, there are only 6% of the premises available. The busiest shopping area is located between Plaza de Callao and the beginning of Calle Fuencarral.

It is amazing to see the large amount of designer-label clothing shops which have their premises in Calle Fuencarral. It is estimated that in 2015, the price per square metre increased 15% in relation to the previous year. It is a very fashionable street.

The well-known Golden Mile is located in the junction of Calle Ortega y Gasset, Claudio Coello and Serrano. At present, to rent business premises costs around 185€ per square metre. Some years ago, the price was even higher but it is calculated that soon it will increase greatly and reach its maximum value. The most fashionable and exclusive designer-label clothing shops are located in Ortega y Gasset.
