What is LEED certification?

The system called LEED certification assesses the useful life of the building materials in order to establish the degree of sustainability of a building. This system bears in mind the different stages of the building materials: when they are obtained, when they are handled and transported and also when they are installed in the building and its later maintenance. The LEED certification analizes all these factors so as to evaluate the materials and set their durability as well as their posible reuse and recycling.

A TRIPLE BENEFIT

A LEED-certified building is considered sustainable and respectful with our environment. As a result, its construction creates a very small amount of damage to the environment. Hence, everybody can enjoy better quality of life due to the fact that we breathe fresher air. A LEED-certified building has three benefits: it respects nature, it improves our health and it ensures economic savings thanks to the good quality of its building materials. In order to obtain the LEED Certification of a building, its reuse and recycling is taken into account as well as its waste and household refuse treatment.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A SUSTAINABLE BUILDING

Apart from the facts we have already mentioned, a sustainable building guarantees its revaluation. Experts who are dedicated to the valuation of buildings, confirm that a LEED-certified building will increase its value. However, the Spanish real estate market is not accustomed to this demand, but we also believe that it will slowly start to take place. The buyer is aware that energy efficiency is an added value to a house on sale.

SUSTAINABLE BUILDING MATERIALS

A sustainable building material comes from plants which ripen in less tan a decade. Therefore, these plants will regenerate and grow without causing widespread deforestation. Two excellent examples are bamboo and cork. On the other hand, certified wood or timber guarantees that it has been obtained in a responsible way without causing loss of trees in forests.

I found this blog post on sustainable building materials to be both enlightening and motivating. In a world where environmental concerns are becoming increasingly critical, it’s refreshing to read about practical solutions like sustainable roofing materials. The emphasis on materials derived from rapidly regenerating plants like bamboo and cork is a fantastic revelation. It’s reassuring to know that we can utilize these resources without causing widespread deforestation. The mention of certified wood or timber also underscores the importance of responsible sourcing and the preservation of our forests.
