Do you know how to create a warm and inviting decoration in your home? At present, we are in the middle of the winter and living through very low temperatures. That is why we have thought it is an excellent time to give you some pieces of advice regarding “ decoration which will help you ease the effects of the cold weather”. We must bear in mind that a warmly decorated home does not only mean turning up the heating but there are also visual elements which allow us to perceive a warm and inviting atmosphere at home. In winter, it is important for us to feel sheltered among our home decoration and thus, protected. This feeling of protection and warmth can be transmited to our home if we make sure that the decoration has some appropriate details. What we see is directly related to our feelings and perceptions and that is why if we want to have a warmly decorated home we must first of all take into account what we see. Let us find out how we can achieve this.
Do not cover all the parquet floor. In this blog, we already wrote about how to take care of parquet floors. In that article we pointed out that parquet floors make the house unique and warm. In winter, if we have parquet floor at home, we think that it is a good idea not to cover all of it so that we can admire its warmth.
Carpets. If instead of having parquet floor we have some other kind of material, then we advise you to cover it with a good quality carpet. Carpets convey a feeling of comfort and protection as well as allowing us to take off our shoes and walk barefoot even if it is raining or snowing outside. Carpets give warmth and therefore use them on top of cold floors!
Brightness. Some time ago, we wrote in our blog that the most cherished element in a house is light and brightness. We also pointed out that we should always try to make our home illuminated. Light is the key to creating a cosy and comfortable atmosphere at home and even more so in winter. Raise the blinds and let the light come inside your home!
Colour. Colour is another element which gives your home warmth. If you paint a wall or an accessory in a bright colour, it will make you feel more cheerful and it will also make the room cosier, especially if it is the children´s bedroom.
A bookcase. Nothing can be cosier than a bookcase in a living room or in a bedroom. When we see a space full of books, we get the same feeling as when we meet someone wearing a beautiful coat. Books keep the walls warm and that is why a good bookcase will help us feel more isolated and protected.
Wood and plants. Few combinations create a cosier atmosphere than wood together with plants. Some time ago we wrote about plants and the way they cheer up and purify our home. If at home you have an area where you can see wood, we advise you to decorate it with some plants. You will notice how the warmth of that space has multiplied!
