Having your own storage room in your house is an important advantage because it is more and more in demand and hence it has become an added value to the property. Very often we have felt overwhelmed due to the lack of space in which to store objects we do not often use. If you have a storage room at home it will enable you to have a neat and tidy house without having to give away objects or tools which may come in useful at certain times. In great cities, especially in the centre and in old houses, you do not normally have a storage room. As a result of this drawback, the companies which rent storage rooms are very much in demand. Due to this, if you own an old house  which has a storage room, in the centre of a large city, you can be sure you have a great advantage.

LARGE CITIES: ON THE HUNT FOR A STORAGE ROOM

In Spain, cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville are very densely populated some of which even have 20.000 inhabitants per square meter and thus one of the highest populated in Europe. This fact has led to the need of extra space for property owners in which to keep their belongings. Therefore, it is no surprise that the storage room business has increased exponentially. Nowadays it is usual for a private individual or a company to rent a storage room. You can also purchase it in the same way as you purchase a parking space. However, until now, renting is more popular in large cities. This also seems to be the trend in most parts of Europe where the rental of premises for storage rooms is very much in demand.

THE REAL ESTATE CRISIS AND THE RENTING OF STORAGE ROOMS

At present, it is estimated that 70% of the clients who rent a storage room are private individuals and the other 30% are self-employed persons and companies. Due to the real estate crisis, many companies have had to reduce their office space and therefore have rented storage rooms in which to keep work materials such as documents and old files which they do not need to have at hand. We must bear in mind that in Madrid and Barcelona it is much cheaper to rent a storage room than to have a large office. As a result of the housing bubble, the companies dedicated to renting storage rooms benefited greatly. We must also add that in Spain, this business is strengthening and growing each day.
